Lesson in a Bucket
Our 5 gallon chore buckets are chock full of ag information for Kane County teachers to share with their students. Topics include Pumpkins, Apples, Cattle, Soil and more.
Touch-A-Tractor
If you would like to get “up close and personal” with farm machinery, come to the Kane County Farm Bureau’s community event, Touch-A-Tractor. Touch-A-Tractor is held every year on the front lawn at the Farm Bureau, Randall Road and Oak Street in St. Charles.
Admission is $5.00 per family. Children are allowed to see equipment up close, touch it, and talk to farmers to gain a better understanding and appreciation of agriculture and the role that farmers play in our area.
S.P.R.O.U.T.S.
Each year, an enthusiastic group of volunteers from the Kane County Farm Bureau brings insights into agriculture to third graders in area classrooms through SPROUTS, or Spring Program of Reading and Outreach to Urban Teachers and Students. Volunteers read a book about agriculture to the kids and then answer questions about the book and life on a farm.
Kane County Fair
Kane County Farm Bureau is a constant at the Kane County Fair and uses the opportunity to raise funds, and friends, for Foundation Scholarship and Agricultural Literacy programs. KCFB’s presence includes a farm zoo, bucket raffles, foundation raffle, and country store. This year’s fair is July 12-16.
John Buck Golf Outing
Agriculture and golf were John Buck’s passions. So it was only fitting that after his death from cancer in 2001, that his family and friends would keep his legacy alive by offering educational scholarships in those fields. Buck was the founder of Buck Brothers, Inc. and J.W. Turf, both of Hampshire, dealers and distributors of John Deere farm equipment and golf course maintenance equipment, respectively. Stay tuned for details about the 21st anniversary John Buck Scholarship Golf Outing.
IAITC Golf Outing
The IAA Foundation invites you to take PAR-t in the 28th Annual Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom Golf Outing on Thursday, June 13 at The Oaks at River’s Edge in Pontiac. This scramble-style tournament allows golfers of all abilities to compete for great prizes while supporting ag literacy!
The driving range & kickoff reception with a complementary beverage bar opens at 8:30am, followed by the kickoff event at 9:30am, and a shotgun start at 10:00am.
Registration is limited to the first 32 foursomes, so don't delay! The registration fee is $150 per golfer - $600 per foursome and includes 18-holes of golf, lunch and other refreshments, and all on-course contests.
Registration opens April 3rd for the golf event on Thursday, June 8th at The Oaks at River’s Edge in Pontiac, IL
